There is an excessive competition in writing and publishing industry and it is growing day by day. In these situations having more books published has always been helpful for authors. I have seen  authors who have published more than 40 books on Amazon.
But writing is not an easy task. It takes a lot of time in typing,editing etc. and lot of other process involved.
One day I came across a speech recognition software called "Dragon naturally speaking"
Most of you must have heard about it.
Now I was thinking how can it be useful for Authors and I got the following deductions:-

1) Typing takes a lot of time, with dragon you just have to speak and it automatically types. I decided to test its speed so I wrote down few lines in my notebook. After that I started dictating to dragon. The result was around 100 to 120 words per minute with 90% accuracy. Now this was really impressive, I can't type 100 words in a minute. So this thing makes it really fast and helpful authors.

2) Most bestselling authors advice to read aloud your manuscript or your draft so that you can a better idea of dialogues. With dragon I was already reading aloud what I had written. Okay, so not only dragon is typing at that time but also you are reading aloud and getting a better idea of your manuscript.

3) There is one more feature in Dragon naturally speaking software and I really liked  called "Transcribe". You can record your audio to any device and Upload it to dragon. It will transcribe the audio in word document or dragon pad while you are doing something else. If you are without your laptop or someone else is using your laptop then just record your audio to your cell phone or some other device and let dragon transcribe it later.

4) One more idea came in my mind but I am not pretty sure about it. You can also do one thing that you can record your writing from your notebook to any device properly. This can become your audio book and after that just upload it to dragon for Transcribing it.  But I think for doing this, your material which is in notebook should be properly edited first. I am not sure about it this deduction so I will do some more research and explain this later to you.

Trick for Authors to back up Facebook contacts email

Facebook is the most powerful medium that is used by Authors for Book Promotion.Whether it is Free giveaway or Launch of your new book, Facebook helps a lot in promotion. Every author makes new connections on Facebook every day but they don't have email back up. There are lot of benefits of keeping email back up of Facebook contacts.

-You can connect with them on other social media platform like Twitter, Linkedin etc.
- If your Facebook account gets compromised or it gets hacked then also your back up is safe.
- And lot of other benefits.

So today I will tell you how to back up Facebook email contacts on your PC or Laptop.

Step 1- Create an email account on yahoo.com or if you have one then its great.

Step 2 - Go to contacts tab in yahoo mail and Import your Facebook contacts.

Now you have successfully Imported your Facebook email contacts but Still you can not use it. Yes you can not use it with any of your social media and you can not export it on your PC or Laptop. So follow step 3

Step 3 - Go to settings and Switch your yahoo settings to Basic.

Step 4- When you have changed your settings to basic then go to contacts and open facebook contacts.

Step 5 - You will see the contacts list with First Name, Last name and Email address. Just select that and drag till the end. Copy it and paste it on your notepad.

You are done with exporting your Facebook contacts. Now you can use it any where and with any social media you like.

NOTE:- Few contacts will not be imported because of their privacy settings.

75% Authors missuse free promotion #mistake

- Now this is a very important mistake and 75% of the authors do that. They just make their book free to get high rankings on self publishing platforms. I have read about lot of authors who say that making their book free has done wonders for them and boosted their book sale. This high ranking and sale will be short term if you don’t know how to do it properly. You must always get other benefits and those benefits should be of long term if you are going for free.

- Reviews: - If you are making your book free then ask for reviews. Ask readers for their feedback about your book. Remember free days will be over soon but reviews will be there for long term and it will later add to your sale. On Amazon if a book is downloaded free then also the review written by reader is An Amazon verified purchase review so when you are going for free ask for reviews.

- It should help in sale of your other book: - I advice you that please do not go for free if you have written only one book. When you give your book free then reader checks out for your other books too and it adds to the sale of other book or books.

4 Linkedin features Authors must know to increase book sale

1) Connections:- Yes I know you have good linkedin connections but you must make new connections everyday. Having linkedin connections and having friends on Facebook or Twitter followers is different. Linkedin enables you to keep email back up of your connections and that is a very important feature.If you have email back up then you can use it with Facebook, twitter or any other social network.And you never loose your contacts. So take 10 minutes a day to make few connections of your interest and after few days you'll see that your network has grown big.So more connections and more power to you

2) Groups :- Don't just join groups of your interest but also post there regularly. Groups are the best place where people of same interest meet.Join more groups and when you post on linkedin then share your post with each group. I advice you to post advice in groups. The more people read it and share it, more your network grows.So more connections, more power

3) Twitter + Facebook. :- Post on linkedin and enable twitter.Your post goes automatically to your twitter followers and if you have connected your facebook page or profile with twitter then Automatically that post goes to your facebook page or profile status. Thus you save time by posting at linkedin and the post goes automatically to your other social networks too at the same time.
The best part, people visit and read your linkedin post from other platforms. They visit your linkedin profile and if it interests them then they connect with you. So more connections, more power.

4) Ask recommendations :- Ask for recommendations from your contacts. Good recommendation makes a better profile and people feel comfortable to connect with you.And remember more connections means more power.

A change needed in Self publishing industry

Self publishing is the biggest change that we have seen now days. Ebooks are selling more than traditional paperbacks on Amazon.

But for the betterment of self publishing I feel some more changes must be done

- Royalty rate should be increased, it should be at least 80%

- Royalty on .99c ebooks should be raised from 35% on Amazon.

- Readers should have freedom to back up their ebooks. As on amazon kindle you can't back up your files. If your account gets suspended or something worse happens then reader looses access to the books.

- I think the return time period on amazon is too much. Any one can buy a book and return it in 7 days. Now 7 days are enough for some one to read a short story or a novella. It should be not more than 48 hours. I think 48 hours are enough to check a book.

I think these 4 small changes will make a big difference in self publishing industry.
